Today is the day!! I’m giving it ALLLLLLLLL away!!!
For years, I taught a workshop called Create + Understand! This was a beginner photography workshop that I started from scratch in 2013, and I taught several classes over the years. It was my favorite thing to do as many moms, students, grandparents, friends, aunts, etc. met with me, and I was able to help them develop their creative skills and understand just what all those buttons do!!
Now, many of my friends and family are beginning to start a new chapter in their lives by getting married and having babies– the chapter that Kyle and I fast-tracked haha! And as I watched this start to happen, I knew I wanted to have a free resource for them so that they could capture this beautiful journey that they are on! Because I understand how it feels to *see* the perfect photo in your mind of your child and not be able to capture it. I so want to help all the photography beginners I know make their ideal photos a reality, so that they are better equipped to capture the magic in their everyday lives.
And even if you don’t have a camera yet, don’t worry… We are going to dive into the creative side first! You see, I’ve watched as many people, *invest* in hundreds of dollars of photography gear, just to get so frustrated their results. As a professional photographer I know that equipment only matters if you possess the skills to use it well. That’s why I want to help you understand the art of photography AND equipment. I believe it’s that you feel empowered to use the tools you already have and to be able to make smart equipment purchases in the future!
ENTER this video series…. YouTube has become such a fun outlet for our family, and a great way to keep up with our family back home as we chase our Chick-fil-A dream in Iowa. Aside from vlogging our daily life, I knew that this free platform would be wonderfully ideal to host the class too!
So starting today you can find my introduction video AND, Lesson One (part one of two) up on our YouTube channel now!!
Now, I originally intended for Lesson One to be one full video, but I think it’ll easier for you to digest these videos in shorter pieces so I’m posting Part One today and Part Two later this week!
If you watch the intro (linked above) you’ll be able to understand just what I’m teaching, who this content is for, and WHY I teach this content the way I do!!
After that, you can watch Lesson One (part one- linked below) and learn about the following:
Leading lines like railroad tracks (pay CLOSE attention to that part…)
My ABC’s of Composition and much more!!
Click the photo below to watch!!
And finally…. YOUR NOTES!!! I’m hoping to provide notes like this after each and every lesson. Just a quick visual summary with highlights from the Lesson that you can easily download to your phone or save to a Pinterest board! Here is that:
