I'm so excited for this change...
I have always loved teaching women, specifically moms about their cameras!
Normally I have taught my in person group workshop in a group setting. This was a great way to help others because I was able to teach a sort of checklist of basics that aimed to allow you to shooting manual. However, as I’ve had inquiries for this in Winter 2024 I’ve realized that so many people have different starting experiences and have very different end goals! One person may need a quick specific technical lesson more than the other, another may have different goals for the subjects they most often shoot, etc.
As a photographer it has always been easy for me to find customizable one-on-one mentoring for business professionals, but I really wanted to curate a space for this with one-on-one mentoring options for those who are just starting out! When I'm working with my own clients I have always loved that connection I am able to get during a session and I wanted that to extend over in other areas of my business too!
Prior to our time together you will fill out a questionnaire identifying your specific goals and pain points surrounding photography, your camera settings and more. This will allow me to put together a customized plan for our time together.
If you do not have a DSLR camera I am happy to provide you one to use during our time together!
All Mentoring Sessions Include:
- Access to my digital guide that breaks down the basics of photography/lighting.
- A pre-recorded walk-through video of me editing a RAW vs JPEG files in Lightroom
- A curated "shopping and suggestions list" designed for your goals after your session

Coffee Shop Talk
1.5 Hours | 2024 Introductory Rate: $225 (plus tax)
For this we will meet at a local coffee shop in the Des Moines area or this can take place over a zoom call! Whatever you prefer :)
Who this is for...
This is perfect for those who want to take better photos when traveling, at your kids sports games, or if you need one-on-one guidance especially geared toward the technical side of your camera/photography. Maybe you'd like suggestions on what camera to invest in or just need a walk through of the buttons on yours. From your survey I will understand exactly what you are looking to shoot and show you the best settings to use for the specific situations. Unlike my previous workshop my goal isn't just to get you to shoot in manual mode, my goal is to find the best shooting solution for YOU and your lifestyle! If you’d like, during the last 15-30 minutes of our time together we will step outside (or by a window) and work more on shooting!

2.5 Hours | 2024 Introductory Rate: $375 (plus tax)
For the first 1.5 hours we will meet at a beautiful natural light studio in Downtown Des Moines. Next we will head outside (if the weather is nice) or to the downtown skywalk and practice lighting and work on our settings!
Who this is for...
This is for those who want to better understand both the technical and lighting side of their camera. For moms this might mean that you want to learn how to take better photos of your own kids or family and have trouble understanding where to best place them in your home/outside and the best settings to use and more! Again, depending on your goals my aim won't be to just get you to shoot on manual. This will be where I help lay the foundation so you can understand the setting you need to change in your camera vs the changes you may need to make when taking portraits or lifestyle images of those you love!

We will will meet at a beautiful natural light studio in Downtown Des Moines for the entire time, stepping outside for photos as desired!
Who is this for?
The mom who wants to take photos of her kids and others that have a more polish look! The friend who wants to capture her friends better and capture better milestone for those around her! The woman who has always had dreams of opening her own photography business. Please note, I do not provide specific business advice during this time, but I do aim to give you a strong launching pad with photography so you can work toward that goal. OR the photographer who is just starting out and needs help with aligning what they are shooting with their vision!
My suggestion is that we chat and work on technical and creative understanding for 1.5 hours and spend the next 45 minutes shooting and then spend the final 45 minutes talking about editing! However, this is completely customizable toward your goals!

Is this only for moms?
Absolutely not!
I find that I tend to give personal examples from my own experience as a mom, however I have had many different ages join in, from high school to retirement age!
There is a "Get to Know You" form prior to our time together that allows me to better understand your goals and lifestyle. I use this to plan the best course of action for you!
Do I need a camera to attend?
No!
I have a limited amount of gear that attendees are welcome to borrow during our time. Just mention that you don't have a camera when reaching out so I can make sure I have enough for all attendees at that specific workshop.
Do you offer workshops?
At this time I am only offering workshops for those who have a friend group of 4 or more willing to commit!
